1. Appearance inspection
Color and gloss: The color of high-quality natural bamboo chopsticks should be natural light yellow or beige, and the surface should have the original texture and gloss of bamboo. If the color of the chopsticks is too white, it may be bleached by hydrogen peroxide soaking or fumigated with sulfur dioxide; if the color is too dark or has spots, it may be moldy chopsticks that have been reprocessed.
Surface condition: Check whether the surface of the chopsticks is free of burrs, insect bites, mildew or other dirt. The surface of high-quality chopsticks should be clean, smooth, and free of obvious defects.
2. Smell judgment
Natural bamboo fragrance: Natural bamboo products will emit a light bamboo fragrance. If you smell a pungent chemical smell, it is likely that the chopsticks have undergone some kind of chemical treatment and do not meet environmental protection standards.
3. Texture and weight
Fine texture: High-quality natural bamboo chopsticks have a fine, smooth texture and a warm touch. If the hand feels rough or has obvious edges and corners, it may be because of some processing.
Moderate weight: Natural bamboo chopsticks are relatively light. If the chopsticks are too heavy, they may not be made of pure bamboo or the bamboo material is of poor quality.
4. Size and shape
Uniform size: Qualified chopsticks should be uniform in size and not too thin or too short. If the chopsticks are of different thicknesses or too thin, they may be refurbished problem chopsticks.
Regular shape: High-quality chopsticks have regular shapes, without bending or deformation. If the chopsticks are bent or deformed, it may be caused by mold after being exposed to moisture.
5. Label and packaging
Product information: Many chopsticks circulating on the market are three-no products. You should choose products with the manufacturer's name, trademark, contact information, production date and shelf life clearly indicated on the outer packaging.
Food contact label: The product should be marked with "food contact" or similar terms to ensure that it meets food safety standards.
