Founder’s Story

Early Story

In the summer of 1974, when the cicadas sang, a child opened his eyes for the first time amidst the scent of bamboo. Kent Tsang’s childhood memories are filled with the rustling waves of bamboo forests–His parents worked in a bamboo products foreign trade company, which served as his natural playground. While children of his age were playing with plastic toys, the bamboo boy could already distinguish the difference between mono bamboo, moso bamboo, and nan bamboo, and watched the craftsmen use the skills passed down from generation to generation to turn bamboo into a variety of household items.

The gears of fate took an important turn in 1995. When Kent Tsang was admitted to Shenzhen University with honors in accounting, the Rongli Craft Factory founded by his father was going through the pains of the early stage of business. On weekends between the campus and the factory, the accounting student often traveled to the workshop to watch the workers sweat and process bamboo materials, and a large number of bamboo chopsticks, bamboo sticks, and bamboo toothpicks were loaded into containers and exported to Hong Kong and Taiwan. He gradually realized that it was the right time for the bamboo products industry to go overseas, and his family’s factory urgently needed modernization and transformation.

opportunity and Startup

During the graduation season in 1998, Kent Tsang worked as an accountant in a Hong Kong cosmetics company during the day and as a “digital ranger” at night. He has experienced dial-up internet access, utilizing Yahoo, customs data and other ways to start the exploration of overseas markets. Late one moonlit night, an inquiry from Greece lit up the screen. The Athens Meat Processing Association was looking for special bamboo skewers that could be adapted to fully automated assembly lines.

The transcontinental conversation, spanning 8,000 kilometers, completely changed the industrial perception of both father and son. Kent Tsang spent two months in the factory to overcome the technical challenges of straightness and hardness of the bamboo sticks. He redesigned the bamboo screening criteria, introduced CNC machine tools to improve the traditional sharpening process, and even developed anti-mold treatment technology for bamboo fibers. When the first batch of bamboo skewers passed the EU food contact material test were boxed up and set sail, customers along the Mediterranean coast marveled, “Chinese bamboo is even tougher than Thailand’s tropical bamboo!”

Expansion and Leap

In 2008, when the financial tsunami swept through the global manufacturing industry, Kent Tsang led a team to establish a new bamboo products factory in Hunan province. Here, innovative products such as biodegradable bamboo knives, forks and spoons, bamboo cutlery, bamboo coffee sticks, bamboo clothespins, and various types of handmade fruit sticks were born.
In 2024, we invested in a new 20,000 square meter factory in Jiangxi to further increase our production capacity. Our team continues to actively developing new products according to the market and customers’ needs.

Today, the showroom of Shenzhen Longdafeng displays the history of bamboo products spanning three decades.” It takes four years for bamboo to take root underground, and in the fifth year it grows 30 centimeters a day.” Kent Tsang often tells his team, “Isn’t this the perfect metaphor for our environmental business?” Now that carbon neutrality has become a global proposition, Kent Tsang is opening up the technology and experience he has accumulated over the past three decades to his peers, believing that this oriental “green steel” will ultimately support the development of a sustainable future.
